Job description
Position: Japanese Language Instructor Reports to: Program Coordinator / Designated Faculty Supervisor Asian University for Women (AUW) Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed-term Contract Location: Chittagong, Bangladesh Asian University for Women (AUW) located in Chittagong, Bangladesh, is the first of its kind: an independent international institution dedicated to excellence, women’s education and leadership development–rooted in the contexts and aspirations of the people of Asia, but global in outlook. Main Responsibilities Of The Job Plan and deliver intensive Japanese language courses for beginner-level learners. Develop and deliver structured lessons covering hiragana, katakana, basic kanji, vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, assignments, classroom activities, and assessments according to students’ learning needs. Prepare students for the JFT-Basic examination, with the goal of developing A2-level Japanese language proficiency. Monitor students’ learning progress through regular assessments, practice tests, and individual feedback. Provide additional academic support to students who require further assistance. Develop students’ practical Japanese communication skills for everyday life, and employment in Japan. Introduce students to Japanese workplace communication, etiquette, and cultural practices. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, assessments, and learning progress. Communicate regularly with relevant university staff regarding students’ progress and academic needs. Contribute to the development and improvement of Japanese language curriculum and teaching materials. Participate in relevant meetings, academic activities, and other duties reasonably assigned in connection with the Japanese language program. Other Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher. Relevant qualification or professional training in Japanese language teaching. Demonstrated experience in teaching Japanese, preferably to beginner-level or adult learners. Strong knowledge of Japanese language teaching methodology. Experience preparing students for Japanese language proficiency examinations, particularly JFT-Basic or JLPT, will be an advantage. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Good command of English for communication and coordination in an international university environment. Ability to work independently and manage an intensive teaching schedule. Strong commitment to student development, academic excellence, and cross-cultural education. Willingness to relocate to and work in Chittagong, Bangladesh for the duration of the contract.
