Job description

Key Responsibilities 1. AI-Assisted First-Pass Translation Prepare Japanese-to-Simplified Chinese translation materials using approved localization tools and language references. Use approved AI-assisted tools to generate working translations, incorporating glossaries, translation memories, style guides, and title-specific references. Review translations for omissions, mistranslations, terminology errors, formatting issues, tone inconsistencies, and contextual inaccuracies. Identify content requiring human translation, additional context, clarification, or escalation due to ambiguity, creative sensitivity, platform terminology, legal context, or IP-specific requirements. Ensure compliance with internal security, confidentiality, copyright, and data-handling requirements. Maintain version control and traceability across source files, working translations, vendor-reviewed text, and approved deliverables. 2. Vendor Handoff & Coordination Prepare and provide vendors with source text, working translations, project briefs, glossaries, style guides, references, context notes, schedules, delivery formats, and quality expectations. Coordinate vendor communications, queries, clarifications, delivery follow-ups, issue tracking, and feedback consolidation. Distinguish unreviewed working content from approved terminology and validated translations. Maintain communication records, query logs, action trackers, and decision histories. Escalate quality, schedule, scope, confidentiality, and delivery risks to the Localization Manager. 3. Simplified Chinese Linguistic Review Review vendor-delivered Simplified Chinese content against Japanese source materials and available context. Check accuracy, completeness, terminology, character voice, tone, grammar, naturalness, cultural appropriateness, UI constraints, and consistency with project guidelines. Verify corrections to working translations and identify new issues introduced during vendor review. Provide actionable vendor feedback and document recurring errors for quality improvement. Recommend acceptance, rework, or escalation to the Localization Manager or designated approver. 4. Localization Project Coordination Support project planning, task tracking, milestone follow-up, dependency management, risk monitoring, and status reporting. Coordinate translation preparation, vendor review, internal linguistic review, LQA, and final submissions. Use memoQ, CAT tools, TMS platforms, approved AI tools, and internal tracking systems as required. Organize source files, working files, references, queries, reviewed deliverables, and approved final files to meet agreed timelines. Support improvements to localization workflows, review checkpoints, templates, and operating procedures. 5. Language Assets, Prompt Assets & Knowledge Base Build and maintain Simplified Chinese glossaries, translation memories, style guides, terminology notes, character and IP rules, restricted terms, and recurring issue logs. Maintain review checklists, workflow instructions, tool guidance, and title-specific localization notes. Maintain approved AI usage guidelines, prompt templates, and title-specific application criteria. Document terminology decisions, vendor feedback, recurring translation issues, and post-project learnings. Identify gaps or conflicts in language assets and recommend improvements. Ensure consistent reuse of validated translations and prevent the use of outdated or unapproved language assets. 6. Quality Measurement & Continuous Improvement Track translation errors, vendor quality issues, rework causes, query trends, and project quality observations. Compare working translations, vendor revisions, and final approved text to identify improvements to terminology, references, tool settings, and review instructions. Prepare project updates covering progress, quality risks, vendor status, pending decisions, and next actions. Prepare post-project summaries and recommendations to improve efficiency, linguistic quality, and review consistency. Support evaluations and pilot testing of localization tools and workflows, including AI-assisted solutions. Track AI translation suitability, recurring issues, editing requirements, and review effort to recommend improvements based on quality and efficiency data. 7. LQA & Issue Follow-up Support Support Simplified Chinese LQA, including linguistic bug clarification, issue tracking, follow-ups, and vendor queries. Review reported issues against source materials, approved terminology, and final localization files. Distinguish linguistic issues from implementation, context, UI, functional, and source-text issues, routing them to the appropriate stakeholders. Document confirmed corrections and update language assets, review checklists, tool guidance, and vendor instructions accordingly. 8. Schedule and Cost Tracking Support Track translation, vendor review, internal review, and LQA schedules, milestones, and submission status. Maintain records of vendor quotations, purchase requests, invoices, and approved budget references where applicable. Flag potential schedule, scope, capacity, and cost risks to the Localization Manager. Support cost tracking while leaving budget ownership, commercial negotiations, and approval authority to the Localization Manager or designated approver. Requirements 1. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, Chinese Language, Japanese Studies, Communications, Game Studies, or a related discipline. Relevant experience in game localization, translation, linguistic quality review, LQA, project coordination, or vendor management. Hands-on experience reviewing Simplified Chinese player-facing content and providing structured feedback. Experience coordinating external localization, translation, or LQA vendors, including briefing, query handling, delivery tracking, and issue escalation. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in game, entertainment, media, or digital content localization, including PC, console, or mobile games. Experience with CAT tools, machine translation post-editing, localization automation, or AI-assisted translation is an advantage. 2. Language Skills Native-level or fully professional Simplified Chinese proficiency, with strong linguistic and cultural sensitivity. Professional working English proficiency for regional communication, reporting, documentation, and tool use is preferred. 3. Technical Skills Familiarity with CAT tools, translation memories, terminology databases, machine translation, AI-assisted translation tools, TMS platforms and localization systems such as memoQ, XLOC, or equivalent. Ability to maintain glossaries, terminology lists, version histories, query logs, issue trackers, and project documentation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Copilot. Good understanding of game localization workflows, LQA processes, UI and character limits, vendor coordination, issue tracking, and delivery management. Familiarity with video game consoles and debug environments is an advantage. 4. Business & Functional Competencies Ability to critically evaluate machine-generated and pre-translated content using independent linguistic judgement. Strong attention to detail when comparing Japanese source text, working translations, vendor revisions, and final Simplified Chinese deliverables. Ability to translate localization requirements into clear vendor instructions, review criteria, tool guidance, action trackers, and escalation procedures.
