We’re hiring: Subtitle Localization Specialist – Portuguese Do you have a passion for languages, media, and storytelling? Join Cognizant as a Subtitle Localization Specialist and help bring films, series, documentaries, and other content to Portuguese-speaking audiences. In this role, you’ll combine your language expertise with attention to detail to create subtitles that feel natural, accurate, and culturally relevant. What you’ll do Translate and localize subtitles from English into European Portuguese while preserving the original meaning, tone, and style. Adapt dialogue, expressions, and cultural references so the content feels natural for local audiences. Review subtitles for accuracy, readability, timing, grammar, spelling, and consistency. Follow platform-specific linguistic and technical guidelines. Work closely with project managers, editors, and quality teams to incorporate feedback and deliver projects on time. What we’re looking for Native or near-native European Portuguese, with a strong understanding of cultural nuances and regional language use. Strong spoken and written English, ideally upper B2 or C1. 1–2 years of experience in subtitle translation, editing, or localization. Excellent attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Experience with localization tools such as Phrase is an advantage. A degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field, as well as experience with streaming content or accessibility standards, would be a plus.
