Role Description This is a full-time remote role for Medical Interpreters (Spanish–English), providing Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI) and Video Remote Interpretation (VRI). The interpreter will facilitate clear, accurate, and impartial communication between patients and healthcare professionals, ensuring that medical information is conveyed correctly in both Spanish and English. Day-to-day responsibilities include handling scheduled and on-demand calls or video sessions, interpreting medical histories, diagnoses, treatment plans, and consent information, and maintaining confidentiality in accordance with applicable regulations. The role also involves using company platforms and tools to log sessions, follow established protocols, and collaborate with coordinators and other team members as needed. Interpreters are expected to adhere to professional ethics, maintain cultural sensitivity, and consistently provide high-quality service in a fast-paced, remote environment. Qualifications Strong skills in medical interpretation and general interpreting between Spanish and English, with the ability to work in OPI and VRI settings. Proficiency in medical terminology in both languages and the ability to accurately convey complex clinical information. Experience with simultaneous interpretation or similar high-speed communication tasks, maintaining accuracy and neutrality. Knowledge of translation practices for short medical-related documents or messages when required. Fluency in Spanish and English, with excellent listening, speaking, and comprehension skills. Familiarity with confidentiality standards (e.g., HIPAA or equivalent) and professional codes of ethics in medical interpreting. Reliable internet connection, suitable equipment (headset, computer, camera for VRI), and comfort working with cloud-based systems. Prior experience as a medical interpreter or relevant healthcare communication role; professional certification in medical interpreting is a plus. Strong customer service orientation, cultural sensitivity, and ability to remain calm and professional in urgent or emotionally charged situations.
