To support our continued growth in North America, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Project Localization Engineer (m/f/d) to lead localization and machine engineering projects for the North American market.
In this role, you will work closely with our engineering teams in Germany and North America to adapt European machine designs for local manufacturing while maintaining performance, reliability, and serviceability. You will contribute to new installations, retrofits, modernization projects, and customer-specific engineering solutions.
Based at our North Houston office , you will enjoy a combination of engineering design, project coordination, supplier collaboration, and hands-on manufacturing support. Occasional travel throughout North America and Europe is part of this position.
Your Responsibilities:
Project Localization
Evaluate complete machine assemblies for localization opportunities
Develop engineering plans to manufacture machinery in North America
Coordinate localization projects between German engineering teams and North American suppliers
Manage engineering changes while maintaining machine performance and reliability
Reduce project costs, lead times, and manufacturing complexity
Support customer-specific localization projects
Mechanical Design
Design and modify machine assemblies using SolidWorks
Redesign fabricated weldments for North American fabrication practices
Design machine structures, guarding, access platforms, piping, hydraulic routing, and mechanical assemblies
Produce manufacturing drawings and complete drawing packages
Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) for localized equipment
Ensure designs comply with North American codes and manufacturing standards
Manufacturing Engineering
Evaluate manufacturability of machine designs
Select appropriate North American materials and standard components
Convert European materials, hardware, bearings, motors, hydraulics, and purchased components into North American equivalents
Support fabrication shops during manufacturing activities
Review supplier drawings and resolve manufacturing questions
Participate in design reviews and prototype evaluations
Your Profile:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Minimum 5 years of experience designing industrial capital equipment
Experience in concrete products machinery (block, paver, pipe, or precast equipment) is highly preferred
Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, power transmission, and machine design principles
Strong understanding of machining, fabrication, and manufacturing processes
Experience designing fabricated weldments and large machine assemblies
Ability to evaluate engineering designs and material substitutions while maintaining fit, form, function, and manufacturability
Knowledge of North American (ASTM/ANSI) and European (ISO/DIN/EN) engineering standards
Proficiency in 3D CAD and PDM systems, preferably SolidWorks
Ability to interpret complex mechanical drawings, including GD&T
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, ideally SAP
Willingness to travel throughout North America and occasionally internationally
Valid driver's license and passport
German and/or Spanish language skills are a plus but not required
