The volunteer Translation & Localization Specialist will translate or review approved materials and help adapt language, examples, formatting, and user experiences for specific audiences. Responsibilities Translate or review approved web, app, email, video, workshop, help, and outreach contentPreserve meaning, tone, reading level, calls to action, and safeguarding languageMaintain glossaries, style guidance, source references, version records, and reviewer notesIdentify text expansion, date, number, layout, image, caption, and accessibility considerationsCoordinate with fluent reviewers and program owners before publicationFlag ambiguous, sensitive, legal, medical, financial, or culturally specific wordingUse approved systems and protect unpublished content and participant informationAvoid machine-only publication, invented claims, or unauthorized interpretation servicesVerify final implementation and report localization defectsQualifications Professional or highly proficient fluency in English and at least one additional languageTranslation, localization, editing, education, community outreach, or multilingual content experienceStrong cultural awareness, research, consistency, and attention to detailFamiliarity with accessibility, plain language, captions, or localization tools is helpfulAt least 18 years old and willing to complete screening and confidentiality requirementsThis is a remote, project-based role available within the United States.
